Our Thrust Areas

CEEC is actively implementing a broad range of programs to advance sustainability, promote environmental stewardship, and empower communities across Malawi and beyond.

Communication Campaigns

CEEC develops and implements behaviour change communication campaigns to raise awareness about key environmental issues such as deforestation, pollution, and climate change. Using local languages and culturally appropriate messaging, campaigns are delivered through radio, social media, posters, community theater, and public events. These initiatives inspire environmental stewardship, promote sustainable behaviors, and positively shift public perceptions about nature and waste management

Waste Management

CEEC works closely with communities, schools, and local councils to promote proper waste handling and eco-friendly practices. Through clean-up drives, training sessions on waste separation and recycling, and the support of composting and upcycling projects, CEEC empowers communities to create cleaner, healthier environments.

Environmental Education

Environmental education is central to CEEC’s mission. The Centre designs and delivers learning programs for students, teachers, and out-of-school youth, focusing on ecological literacy, sustainability, and climate action. Through classroom sessions, school clubs, teacher training, and the development of learning materials, CEEC nurtures a new generation of environmentally conscious citizens.

Experiencing Nature

CEEC organizes eco-trips, nature walks, and outdoor camps to foster meaningful connections between people and the natural world. These experiences promote environmental appreciation, mental well-being, and practical, hands-on learning about ecosystems and biodiversity.

Environmental Management

CEEC supports community-based environmental management initiatives, including reforestation, wetland protection, and conservation agriculture. By training local stakeholders and promoting sustainable land use practices, CEEC works to restore degraded areas, protect biodiversity, and enhance climate resilience, in alignment with national priorities.

Research

CEEC conducts and supports research addressing local environmental challenges and the effectiveness of environmental programs. Through surveys, field studies, and participatory research, CEEC generates evidence-based insights to guide interventions, influence policy, and improve environmental practices. Strategic collaborations with academic institutions further strengthen this work.

Publication & Material Development

To enhance education and outreach, CEEC develops engaging educational materials such as booklets, posters, activity guides, audios and videos. Resources are customized for local contexts and often translated into native languages, ensuring broad accessibility and fostering environmental action across all segments of society.
